Canadian Travel Document - Adult
A Canadian citizen can apply for a Canadain Travel Document to travel internationally.
You can apply for an Adult Canadian Travel Document if:
- You don’t have a Canadian Travel Document;
- Your Canadian Travel Document was issued within 15 years of the date you applied for your renewal;
- Your current Canadian Travel Document was issued when you were under 16 years old;
- You need to change your current Canadian Travel Document information
- Your current Canadian Travel Document was valid for less than five years
To apply for a new Canadain Travel Document, you need a guarantor. A guarantor is a person who confirms the applicant's identity, has known the applicant for more than two years, lives in Canada or the United States, and can communicate in English or French. There are three options for the guarantor:

Canadian guarantor: The guarantor must have a valid Canadian Passport.

Professional guarantor: The guarantor should be a member of one of the designated professions identified by Passport Canada.

No guarantor: The applicant should complete the Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor.
